Julie Capone is an experienced trial attorney, having tried hundreds of cases and litigated countless other matters. She’s been an Assistant District Attorney for 23 years and was the first prosecutor assigned to the Elder Abuse Unit, established over 20 years ago. Recognizing the challenges seniors face, Julie pioneered victim-sensitive practices, such as pretrial home visits. She also deposes seniors off-site when the law permits. She works closely with social service agencies and addresses elder abuse through restorative measures, prevention, and outreach. Julie has a proven history evidencing her commitment to fairness and equality in the justice system. Her passion for senior advocacy began as a teenager, working in a nursing home, and continued through law school, where she focused on elder law and participated in Pitt Law’s Elder Abuse Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to low-income seniors. Julie’s been elected to several leadership positions in the Allegheny Bar Association, including chairing its Judiciary Committee and currently serving on its Board of Governors. She was recently inducted into the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. She’s also a longtime member of the United Steelworkers (USW). Julie’s “highly recommended” by the Allegheny County Bar Association.
